This machine uses an intelligent power module (IPM) as switching device and utilizes pulse width modulation (PWM) approach to control the switching operations of the IPM. The designed power supply adopts Microchip dsPIC30F4011 and PIC16F877A as control core, and uses Controller Area network (CAN) as communication interface. The user-defined waveform data are downloaded from personal computer with RS232 and LabVIEW. The output frequency range of the realized variable voltage variable frequency power supply is 6.5 to 110Hz. This programmible power supply not only can operate alone, but also can operate on Connected Grid. It can coordinate with the CAN communication to achieve distributed control and monitoring.
