In order to optimize the performance of virtual machines, the system administrator must keep up-to-date the software packages and OS kernels, especially in Linux world. In this research study, we focus on how to provide an efficient private cloud for Linux packages download service. We use Linux Virtual Server (LVS) to monitor the number of active connections and Manage Large Networks (MLN) to deploy the virtual machines for mirror servers across two Local Area Networks (LANs). Our cloud platform will provide the download service with a single entry point through the assistance of IP in IP tunneling across the two LANs. Upon a request, the iptables mangle is applied to filter the coming IP addresses so that the nearest mirror server is responded. From the experiments, by applying the platform of adjustable,load-balanced mirror service, up to 20% of download time can be saved if all requests are coming from the same local area network.
