Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 教育政策與行政學系 === 99 === This study aimed to determine the causes and nature of discrepancies between an ideal state of elementary school character education and its actual state. This study was conducted by use of a questionnaire entitled “Implementation of Elementary School Character Education in Central Taiwan.” Seven hundred public elementary school teachers were surveyed in the central region of Taiwan. Among them were 546 effective samples; the usable percentage was 78%. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 12.0; the statistical methods included descriptive analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results were as follows: 1.Elementary school character education, both the ideal and actual state was above average. 2.Discrepancies existed between the ideal and actual state of elementary school character education. 3.There were discrepancies in teacher,s age, years of service, and duties in character education ideal state of elementary school. 4.Social environment, students, curriculum and teaching were the important aspects that affected elementary school character education. Based on the results of this study suggestions were proposed to the Educational Administrative Authority of Taiwan, schools, teachers and researchers.
