Methods: Twenty female high school volleyball players participated this study. The players were randomly divided into CoQ10 group and placebo group according to their volleyball defensive position. Subjects in CoQ10 group supplemented 300 mg CoQ10 once a day for 14 days, and subjects in placebo group consumed the same dosage of methylcellulose. All subjects proceeded 2 hours volleyball physical training 6 times per week for 2 weeks. Seven items of volleyball-specific aerobic and anaerobic fitness tests were determined before and after supplementation. The two-way ANOVE with mixed-designed was used to compare the variables between groups and time points. Independent t test was used to compare the changes for all variables between groups. Results: After 14 days supplementation, thirty seconds sprint performance, one of the anaerobic capacities, was significantly increased in CoQ10 group. Twelve minutes walk / run test, one of the aerobic capacities, were also trended to improve in CoQ10 group. There were no difference in the anaerobic capacities of vertical jump, jump run-up, throwing badminton, 3 times of 9 meters shuttle run and one minute sit-up. Seven items of aerobic / anaerobic sport-specific fitness for volleyball players in both groups improved after 14 days training. Conclusion: Fourteen days Coenzyme Q10 supplementation can enhance the 30 meters sprint performance of anaerobic capacity for volleyball players and has the trend to improve the aerobic capacities.
