In this study, earth-mold casting method was adopted for the control group and Chang-Gung casting method for the experimental group, in order to compare with the differences in superficial quality, basic structure, fragility hardness, strength and production cost of the products made in these two different process. Production cost was determined by the cost of materials and processing costs. Comparison between the two groups was made to reach better process quality and lower costs. According to the experimental results, the conclusions of the study were as follows: 1. The Rz value of Chang-Gung casting method was less than the Rz value of earth-mold casting. 2. The products made with Chang-Gung casting method were better than those made with earth-mold casting in finer basic structure with evener distribution of elements. 3. Anti-pressure of Chang-Gung casting method was higher than anti-pressure of earth-mold casting. 4. Products made with Chang-Gung casting method were superior to those made with earth-mold casting method in better structural strength and less fragility. 5. Products made with two methods were of the same hardness. 6. Production cost of Chang-Gung casting method was lower than that of earth-mold casting method.
