Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 特殊教育學系所 === 99 === This study aimed to investigate the operation and importance of the parent-teacher association (PTA in short) of special schools. It conducted a survey research by questionnaires. The teachers and PTA members from 24 special schools were the sampling. In the event, a total of 267 questionnaires had been completed and returned. Data was analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The result indicated the PTA of special educational schools had a perfect performance in the formation of member, administration affairs, structure, and parents’ involvement and cooperation; in additions, it had fulfilled the PTA functions with regulation. The study participants approved the organization structure, parents’ involvement and cooperation, and the practice of PTA were all important. Besides, they had a consensus of the necessity of PTA of special schools. However, there were significant differences based on demographic variables, including gender, position and school scale as well. Based on the findings of the study, some suggestions for the implications in administration, the PTA operation of special school, and further studies were discussed.
