The belt type high speed spindle is generally used in the CNC vertical
maching center. The characteristic of structure is to has the simplest construction
and also the most economical design. The belt type spindle is widely used in the
metal cutting, mold making, and the 3C industry. However, in order to enhance
the vertical maching center’s added value and meet the demand of high-speed
cutting technology, the spindle’s running speed have to be accelerated. But
spindle’s vibration and noise also increases at the same time, which affects service
lives of cutting tool and bearing. It will make damage to the product’s reliability
and the quality.
In order to improve the vibrating problem of spindle, based on the rotor
balanced concept, request of balance, and the standard of vibration quantity rank.
This research applies high precision Switzerland-produced Studer S40 CNC
internal grinding machine to grind the internal hole of the processed shaft and
improves the hole’s surface roughness from Ra 1.6 to Ra 0.4 with concentricity
0.01 mm. It reduces the gap and vibration between shafts by means of enhancing
the accuracy of the spindle’s shafts. Besides, using the structure that shank
integrated with fixed keyway, and also the draw bar system with triple clamping
force to reduce the resonation result from a too long clamping unit.
To take MV1110 high speed spindle produced by Kenturn as an example in
this article, analyzes ISO40 high speed spindle’s structure and improves its
structure and design method. And then, it takes an analysis and research by
measuring the vibration result after improving the inner hole’s superficial accuracy
tolerance.The test result shows the new design ISO40 high speed spindle’s

vibration quantity of the front side decreases from 22.6 mm/s to 1.163 mm/s, and
the vibration quantity of the rear side decreases from 11.51 mm/s to 1.451 mm/s
when rotating speed at 12000 rpm. The vibration quantity is greatly improved.
Meanwhile, the noise level reduces from 90db to 82db. This method
effectively improves the spindle vibration quantity and the noise problem, which
meets the technical demand of high speed spindle’s processing cutting technology
