How teachers’ individual backgrounds affect and correlate with their personality traits and work pressure were examined. The research instrument used in this study is questionnaire named “The kindergarten teachers’ personality traits and work pressure scale” according to literature review and related researches. 504 questionnaires were sent to the kindergarten teachers in Taipei, and 434 valid questionnaires were received. The recovery ratio is 86.8%. Statistical methods used for data analysis included descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The research findings are as follows: 1. The overall personality traits of the kindergarten teachers tended towards positive, of which, the “Agreeableness” and “Conscientiousness” are most obvious. 2. A middle-to-low level of overall work pressure was reported by respondents. The main source of work pressure is “work load” and “career development”. 3. Regarding the overall teachers’ personality traits, there is significant difference on the background variables of the age, teaching years, marital status, number of children, school size, monthly income and duty, and the remaining variables are less than significant level. 4. Regarding the overall teachers’ work pressure, there is significant difference on the background variables of the age and education, and the remaining variables are less than significant level. 5. According to the investigation, there is significantly negative correlation between kindergarten teachers’ personality traits and work pressure in Taipei. 6. According to the investigation, there is significantly negative correlation between kindergarten teachers’ work pressure and health belief in Taipei. Finally, on the basis of research results, conclusions and concrete recommendations are proposed for the administrative authority for education, schools, kindergarten teachers and future research.
