Automobile Manufacturing industry in Taiwan has developed for more than fifty years and made a huge improvement. However, there are still a lot of restrictions for domestic automobile manufacturers to make further process. Under the restricted resources and conditions, manufacturers adopt different strategies, and the manufacturers which adopt the same strategy called “strategic group.” The issue of strategic groups is very important for academic sector to study industrial competition. Many scholars use the concept of strategy groups to understand what strategies the manufacturers adopt. This thesis is based upon the master theses by Chiang(1999) and Chen(2007), and proceed to research strategic groups frame of domestic automobile manufacturers from 2007 to 2010 which named the seventh period. This thesis use cluster analysis to make manufacturers group, research the difference of strategies and causes by questionnaires and interviews, and find out the mobility barriers between groups. The conclusions of the thesis confirm that the mobility barriers affect manufacturers’ moves. The result of this thesis are as follows: 1.Types of manufacturers’ competitive strategies between strategic groups in the seventh period are different. 2.Performances between strategic groups are different in the seventh period. 3.The frames of strategic groups in the sixth and the seventh period are different. 4.Types of manufacturers’ competitive strategies in the sixth and the seventh period are different. 5.Mobility barriers affect manufacturers’ moves between strategic groups significantly. Finally, this thesis provides research contribution and managerial implication according to the results of the research and expects to come up with the effective advice for making strategy in the academic sector and industry.
