Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 園藝學系研究所 === 99 === Since the 1990s, scholars have proposed using computer simulations to visually generate images for visitors to evaluate the social carrying capacity of recreation areas. Now, the visual simulation method has proven to be a viable method for the evaluation of social carrying capacity of recreation areas. This research aimed to evaluate the social carrying capacity of the SheyShan Peak Trail. Using simulated images containing different-sized crowds, we conducted an investigation on the Mountaineers’ social carrying capacity. We were able to attain their sense of crowding, acceptability, satisfaction, and need for administrative management. The results were as follows: 1. With increasing number of people in the simulated photographs, the Mountaineers’ acceptability and satisfaction of the SheyShan Peak Trail decreased, and their sense of crowding and the need for administrative management increased. 2. Mountaineers felt different sense of crowding, acceptability, and satisfaction toward photographs with the same number of people combined but distributed differently in the foreground and mid-ground. The more people there are in the foreground, the higher the need for management and the sense of crowding are. 3. The main causes of uncomfortableness in the Mountaineers’ recreation experiences were too few resting areas. 4. Mountaineers’ main alternative recreation behavior was changing their entry time. 5. This research suggests that the instant social carrying capacity is 20 people and the daily carrying capacity is 100 people in the SheyShan Peak Trail. 6. This study suggests that the maximum trailhead traffic should be limited to 20 people per 4 hours in the SheyShan Peak Trail.
