Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 臺灣文化學系 === 99 === Although the government’s effort has been made to balance medical resources and increase the convenience for seeking medical advice, the inequalities of overall health services in Taiwan still remain uneven nowadays. Obviously, the Eastern Taiwan is not exceptional. Apart from the uneven distribution of resources, whether the eastern Taiwan has the issue of insufficient resources? Moreover, what are the main causes of the issues of uneven resources inequalities and insufficient resources? Which parts of the Eastern Taiwan encounter these problems? To solve the above mentioned problems, this study primarily discussed the role of Eastern Taiwan played in regional medical system and the differences in space and area among hospitals in Eastern Taiwan through the understanding of the history development and structured content of the hospitals at all levels. Next, this study further analyzed the factors of uneven hospital inequalities in Eastern Taiwan through the locations and space inequalities of the hospitals at all levels in Eastern Taiwan. Finally, the uneven inequalities of health services in eastern Taiwan were presented through the application of grid-base population and the concept of accessible space. The findings of the research showed that the space inequalities of health services in Eastern Taiwan reflects the impact of natural environment, people, traffic, and history background on the regional development. Based on the structured content of the hospitals at all levels in eastern Taiwan, it is found that private hospitals or clinics’ willingness to open in eastern Taiwan is relatively low because of the small population and medical market, and weak economic development. This has led the medical development in eastern Taiwan moving toward government or religion directed direction. Even the medical resources in eastern Taiwan are supported by government or religious groups, the overall medical resources are still very insufficient due to uneven distribution of medical resources. People in eastern Taiwan often said: “the issue of medical resources in eastern is the uneven distribution instead of the number of hospital”. Besides, the uneven space distribution of hospitals at all levels in eastern Taiwan has been affected by natural environment, population distribution, main traffic roads and regional development. These uneven health services space mainly distribute on north section of Xiulin Village, Central Mountain Range, JinFong Village, Dajen Village and off-shore islands.
