Summary:碩士 === 南華大學 === 文學系碩士班 === 99 ===   Shuilin, a part of ancient Bengan and approaching the outlet of Brook Beigang, is a relay station between Beigang and Kouhu. In the neighborhood, "Qiu De Xuan Den" and "Xiang Lì Reciting Club" of Mr. Lǐ Xi Duan, who is a famous Confucianism master, are the literature breeding bases of Shuilin. Although Shuilin area has piecemeal anthology, there''s no systematic rearrangement. Hence, the author is devoted to the edition of Shui-lin literature. She hopes to reveal the true appearance of Shui-lin literature development.     When writing this paper, the author worked on the field study first. In this study, there was some surprising harvest, but there was some disconsolate place, too. What was surprising was that people in Shui-lin had firm mind in cultural preservation. What was disconsolate was that many draft manuscripts and the historical data were scattered and lost forever because of migration or the improper preservation . The complex mood of surprise and disconsolation bred the innumerable energies for the author, and caused the author to be intimate with this Taiwanese land thoroughly. During the composition process, the author got in close touch with those of the human affairs, geography, history and the literature in Shui-lin. The unceasing sparkle turned into the author''s innermost feelings. Those interactive touches became invaluable experience of the author''s life.     This paper is organized as follows: Chapter 1 is the introduction, and presents theresearch motives, objectives, scope of research, research method, previous research results and literature reviews. Chapter 2 refers to the local records and historical books of Taiwan,Yunlin, and Shuilin, and contains a brief description of geographical environment,historical development and general condition of cultural and education in Shuilin.     Chapter 3 discusses the traditional literature development in Shuilin area, background of traditional literature development, important poets and their poetry, characteristics of the poetry pieces, the relationship between literature circles in Yunlin and Taiwan to outline a literary network of traditional poets in Shuilin area.     Chapter 4 discusses modern literature development in Shuilin area, including the development of modern literature in this area, important writers and work of local modern literature , inducement of characteristics of the this region modern literature.     Chapter 5 discusses the folk development in Shuilin and induces characteristic and value of folk literature in this region. Chapter 6 is the comprehensiveness of several phases of literature in Shuilin and leads to the conclusion of this study.
