Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 工業設計研究所 === 99 === Incense is one of the cultural characteristic in Chinese religious tradition. Nowadays people are inclined to ignore the value for designing the incense due to the low quality of incense. This study adopts the experimental method of Kansei engineering to explore the correlation between the olfactory perception of the incense and colors to capture the common imagination for incense and the colors on the packing of products. The difference among the odors is the main feature of incense and the color on the packing is one of the main features of the products. This study develops a consultative system for designers to connect the olfactory perception to the colors, for the purpose of designing the suitable colors on packing derived from the odor of the incense. Through the analysis of two elements, the odors of incense and colors, this study tries to help designers to search for the suitable colors on packing of the products to meet their own requirement for odors.
This study applies Kansei engineering for the basic theory to explore the common requirement for the perception between the incense experts and the packing designers and adopts the quantitative research of fuzzy theory to design questionnaire for statistical analysis. At the preliminary phase, this study interviews and consults three incense experts who have produced the incenses over three years in order to realize the ingredients and odors of incense. Shortly, this study collects different kinds of normal incense selling in the market as the experimental samples for market research, and gets main vocabularies about olfactory perception from the incense experts. At the second phase, this study adopts the concepts of fuzzy theory and genetic algorithms. It applies weighting principles of the fuzzy sets to build a set of algorithms to evaluate the color image. Subsequently, this study implements the genetic algorithms to produce the optimized color sample. Eventually, this study applies the research methods as the basis of developing the system to plan the colors on packing the incense products. Furthermore, base on the weight of the personal requirements, it can evaluate the abstract odor of incense to attain the evaluation of colors. Thus, the result can assist the designers to plan colors, and provide suggestion of the optimal color for designers. This study helps designers not only to realize the correlation between odors and colors, but also to apply for diverse colors to incorporate the olfactory perception into the colors on the packing of incense.
