The proposed structure consists of simple mechanical devices which can drive a counting scale for water-flow. The meter scale can continue to count during the power outage. The value can be sensing from the counting scale to micro-processor when the power restores. Through computer analyses,we could learn the water path where is leakage from pipeline. The structure of entire water meter system includes signal generator, signal sensors, signal detection circuit,digital encoder and remote protocol circuit. It uses a single micro-chip integration design to realize smart water meter device. It also uses serial port as transmission interface to link the data encoded by the digital encoder with several water meters through sequence transmission port and transmit it to the computer. Both of FPGA and micro-processor based are implemented for the smart water meter system. The recognitions from meter values can achieve about 90% in experiments. With software correction, the accuracy is good enough for practical applications. The water mater value can send to the server through GPRS wireless system.
