For having cold light source and no UV radiation, the LED light source is more suitable for medical illumination in comparison with traditional light source. However, the theory of illumination for conventional single-lamp light source surgical lights could not be applied to the multi-lamp light source of LED surgical lights. In order to solve this problem, this study designs a mechanism to enhance the focusing performance and lighting efficiency for the multi-lamp light source LED surgical lights. The user of surgical lights could just turn one of light source illumination angle of multi-lamp light source, the other light sources can be turn to the same illumination angle simultaneously. The user could change light focus distance by adjusting the illumination angle of multi-lamp light source. The mechanism could also install a control motor on the driven linkage to reach automation function. The driving forces for the control motor on different locations are also analyzed by using MSC.Visual Nastran Desktop software. On the other hand, the effect of angle position error caused by differences of linkage dimension is also analyzed, that could provide producers to set the linkage tolerances in manufacturing and improve the quality of multi-lamp light source LED surgical lights.
