Summary: | 碩士 === 高雄師範大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 99 === The aim of this study is to explore the pragmatic-discourse functions of Mandarin jiùjìng and dàodǐ in daily, casual conversations and TV/broadcast interviews from corpus. It takes Conversation Analysis (Sacks, Schegloff & Jefferson, 1974), Speech Act Theory(Austin & Searle, 1962/1969 ), Cooperative Principle & Conversational Implicature (Grice, 1975), Presupposition (Frege, 1967), and Focus on theoretical frameworks to account for them.
In order to investigate the distinctive pragmatic-discourse functions of Mandarin jiùjìng and dàodǐ, this study classifies jiùjìng and dàodǐ in terms of its position in a turn. This study shows various pragmatic-discourse functions of dàodǐ in TV/broadcast interview data: starting a topic, expressing confirmation, and shifting a topic. Furthermore, dàodǐ in the casual conversation data shows various pragmatic-discourse functions: marking transtition, expressing the specker’s attitude, etc. As for jiùjìng, since it does not appear frequency in the corpus, we do not discuss it in details. As a while, the main function of dàodǐ in interaction is to express the speaker’s stance. Jiùjìng and dàodǐ are often used to connect old information and new information in utterances.
