The purpose of this study is exploring the efficiency differences between the analysis of passive and active promotion of green products in the two layer channel structure of a single manufacturer and single retailer. In this study, the retailer is the leader of a channel. It determines the ratio of revenue sharing; the manufacturer is the follower that determines the price and quantity of products. This study found that in the supply chain, profit is considerably affected by eco-friendly design level of products. In other words, when the active promotion of green products eco-friendly design level of products is twice of passive promotion, the profits as a result of active promotion will be higher than passive promotion. However, passive promotions yield higher profits when the level of active promotion reaches four times the level of passive promotion. When ?T A d 0.643, the profit of active promotion is higher than passive promotion and the opposition when ? A d 0.643. Thus, the government should establish adequate reward and penalty measures while anticipating and encouraging businesses to contribute to environmentally friendly design of products.
