The existing hardtop roof mechanism is regarded as the subject for design improvement, and design requirements and limitations would be set. Kinematic chain would be appointed according to kinematic chain catalog. And then, kinetic chain specialization would be carried out according to the characteristics of hardtop roof mechanism, and the set design requirements and limitations, specific method is used to change the feasibly specialized kinetic chain into mechanism diagram; thus, the mechanism of new hardtop roof type would be obtained. Finally, methods for computing the angular displacement, angular velocity, angular acceleration and driving torque of the mechanism is also developed by using vector loop method and the virtual work method.
