When the sensor node after a long period of operation, probably, because of energy depletion, signal interference or external impact which lead to loss of environmental sensing capabilities, and then become a hole. The hole will interrupt communication between node and node. If there are so many holes, it will break the internet and then generate partition. Therefore, this thesis proposes a Data Gathering Protocol to collect network’s data. When the network generates partition, we use mobile relay to collect data from partitions, and then sink can gather more data from entire network. In simulation, we simulate the proposed Data Gathering Protocol in NS2 simulator. Our simulation results show that our proposed Data Gathering Protocol can collect more sensed data in partitioned wireless sensor network and extending the network lifetime.
