Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 台灣文化研究所碩士班 === 99 === Due to the homing instinct, the pigeons are trained to accomplish the task of racing competition. Except the competition of racing pigeons, one unique activity held in some townships of Tainan City is called “Fang Keling”. There are no accurate and detailed records to highlight the “Fang Keling” activity. It is said that the activity can be traced back to Ching Dynasty hundred of years ago. “Fang Keling” has once enriched the farmer''s life and creates a jolly time in the village. With the economic and social change, however, the “Fang Keling” activity is more and more difficult for people to go on. The smaller racing region and the lower racing frequency all make the “Fang Keling” activity no longer as popular as early times. Fortunately, there are still some people enthusiastic about this devote their life to preserving the activity. This article focuses on the collections of historical data, discussions, and interviews with observation through the contest area. By detailed research and understanding of “Fang Keling”, it will show a brand new life and style of this cultural activity for everyone.
