Twenty milkfish farms were selected for this study and were categorized into three scales (small, medium, and large) based on their size in hectare. A cost return analysis was applied to determine some indicators such as net revenue, total revenue, productivity and profitability. Further, multivariate statistical analysis was also applied by considering varied methods such as multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and principal component analysis (PCA). To realize this study, two sets of variables had been carefully selected. The first set was defined as biological variables which are represented by stocking density and survival rate. The second set called economic variable was respectively represented by net revenue, total revenue, productivity and profitability. The variables such as stocking density, survival rate, total revenue and net revenue were considered as original variables. Four important inputs cost were considered (fry, feed-fertilizer, water-electricity and labor) which accounted for about 90 % of the total production cost. Finally, the Cobb-Douglass production function was performed to establish the quantitative relationship between input and output. The results indicated the effect of farming scale on the productivity variables was significant and showed the farms operating at large scale were better with productivity performance. The Cobb-Douglass production function showed that milkfish farms in Taiwan in 2006, exhibits increasing return to scale. Sha Miao 繆峽 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 56 en_US
