The Overview and Market Analysis of Aquarium equipment and accessories Industries in Taiwan

碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 水產養殖學系 === 99 === Aquarium fish industry belongs to high value industries in Taiwan, these recent years the government start to emphasize on this industry, as well there’s existed tons of related statistic reports literature on this region, however lack of studies on aquarium equipment and accessories industries. Therefore this study mainly aim at twelve kinds of aquarium equipment and accessories such as: aquarium tank, ornamental fish diet, aeration pump, water pump, filter equipment tools, aquarium lamps, water quality reagent, water filter, water quality instruments, temperature controller, aquarium magazines and miscellaneous aquarium accessories as the main object survey. The study were concluded in (1) Survey on suppliers and manufactories from January 2008 to June 2010 about domestic sales, export and other output profiles, (2) Survey on customers’ consumption to aquarium equipment and accessories, (3) Survey by interviewing the supplier and manufactories to support the first and second survey results reliability, (4) SWOT and Michael’s Porter Five Forces Model and Competitiveness Index between Taiwan and China aquarium equipment and accessories analysis. Statistic results of export value from year 2008 is $ 0.6825 billion NT dollars, the sum of export and domestic value is $ 1.441 billion NT dollars; export value in year 2009 is $ 0.6655 billion NT dollars, the sum of export and domestic value is $ 1.406 billion NT dollars; export value from January until June 2010 is $ 0.5145 billion NT dollars, the sum of export and domestic value is $ 1.1355 billion NT dollars. This survey results, official public data on website and official document data of Directorate General of Customs (Ministry of Finance) were compared, resulted in this study ornamental fish diet and water quality reagents value were slightly match with official document data of Directorate General of Customs (Ministry of Finance), while the others kind of aquarium equipment and accessories value were not match at all with both official public data on website and official document data of Directorate General of Customs (Ministry of Finance). Customers’ consumption survey resulted in customers prefer in purchasing goods that being recommended by the aquarium shop owners, or well known branded goods. Customers willingly to pay averagely $ 10.132 NT dollars annually for aquarium equipment and accessories; And 54% of surveyed customers were familiar with some well known branded aquarium equipment and accessories, while 55% of surveyed customers willingly to purchase domestic brand of aquarium equipment and accessories. This surveyed results along with factories and manufactories interviewed were integrated to compose associate industry chain and related industry analysis, in order to efficiently assist the government to understand current scale of this industry.
