Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 幼兒與家庭教育學系碩士班 === 99 === Experiential learning is the most appropriate way for preschool children to obtain fundamental knowledge and living skills. In family, one of the most frequent experiences for children is cooking activity. However, considering the safety and children’s ability, adults usually do not encourage children to join cooking activity together. Children thus miss many opportunities to learn living abilities instead. Based on this background, the researcher has participated a team to design the R & D of children’s kitchenware, and taken the works“Arrow Knife”and“Get a Stem”to attend
“Universal Design Competition”. In the process of R & D, the team has faced difficulties in obtaining professional equipment and resources, therefore the products could not be accomplished. The researcher has chosen similar products “P'sof cake”
and“Foam Tubing”as alternatives, and implicated application and evaluation of the products in the kindergarten.
The results of application and evaluation showed that, the design of similar products did not meet children’s physical and mental needs into consideration. In the process of use, children faced some difficulties, such as“size is too large” ,“laborious”
and“difficult to understand the operation”. Among these difficulties, size and effortless were closely related. Therefore, the researcher suggested that the R & D of children’s kitchenware should consider following design points,“suitable for children’s size”,“effortless”and“the operation is easy to understand for children”. Finally, the researcher reflected the research process, and proposed reflections and recommendations. Expecting these experiences were useful for designers to create the kitchenware that is suitable for children to operate safely and appropriately.
