The self-constructed questionnaire“Expectation of Father’s Role Scale”was used to collect data. The subjects of the study were sampled by purposive sampling, and a total of 195 paired questionnaires were collected from preschooler parents of public kindergarden in north Taiwan cities(Taipei City, New Taipei City and Hsinchu City). Several statistical research methods such as descriptive statistics(Frequency and Mean),one-way ANOVA and paired-t test were adopted to analyze the data, the results of this study showed as below: 1.Being as for the whole, fathers and mothers got same score on the“Expectation of Father’s Role Scale”. 2.To compare the Means by individual domain, fathers had higher expectation than mothers on domains of “financial support” and “daily caring”; mothers had higher expectation than fathers on domains of “model concern” and “learning guidance”. 3.Fathers in this study most valued domain of “model concern” of father’s role expectation, and domains of “financial support”, ” learning guidance” and “daily caring” in order.;Mothers most valued domain of “model concern” of father’s role expectation, and domains of “learning guidance”, “financial support” and “daily caring” in order. According to the results, most of fathers and mothers had higher expectation on “model concern” domain, and had lower expectation on “daily caring” domain. 4.Fathers’ expectations on father’s role were varied based on their SES variables, such as education level, weekly working hours, main caregiver of children and family household income. 5.Mothers’ expectations on father’s role were varied based on their SES variables, such as education level, family state, family household income and profession. 6.Fathers and mothers had no significant differences on domains of “total expectation”, “financial support” and “learning guidance” on“Expectation of Father’s Role Scale”. 7.Fathers and mothers had significant difference on domain of “daily caring” on “Expectation of Father’s Role Scale”, and the former were higher than the latter; another finding was that fathers and mothers had significant difference on domain of “model concern” on “Expectation of Father’s Role Scale”, but the latter were higher than the former. Some suggestions based on the findings of this study were provided references for parents and further studies.
