In the meanwhile, due to geographical and historical factors, Taiwan has transformed into a multi-immigrant society. How to understand, respect disparate cultures and learn to tolerate their differences is one of the important tasks for educators. To enhance students’ cognitive performance, their capacity for apprecaition and autonomous praxis for the beauty of multicultural community, the researcher chose “community multiculturalism” as the topic in the curriculum in arts and humanities learning area, intended to break through the interface between the community and the school, used public space like the surrounding walls and the sidewalk as the place for students’ autonomous praxis, used “multicultural education” and “community-oriendted arts education”as the theoretical framework, and designed a lesson plan suitable for the curriculum in arts and humanities learning area. The researcher adopted “action research” as the method, chose 306 students in her classes as the subjects, collected data by observing, interviewing these participants, using their documents and work, and distributing two questinnaires to each student; analyzed the collected data and induced some useful findings from them. The conclusions and suggestions are as follows: 1. Content and teaching methods in the curriculum: The integration of community multicultralism into the curriculum in the arts and humanities learning area can help students understand and identify with their own culture, and learn to respect the disparities among different cultures. Students’ attitude toward art and learning motivation can be better enhanced when they take the courses in which art work is on display in public places or when they have to arrange an exhibition. 2. Learning Efficiency: Participants exhibit significant enhancement in terms of art attitude, identification of their own culture, learning motivation and identification with the school and the community, autonomous praxis, more concern for the surroundings and ethnic groups. 3. The reseacher adviced the education authorities concerned investigate further into the subject matter of multiculturalism by integrating it into curriculum and activities, combined with resources from the community, narrowing the scope of the present research and tying different research methods. Keywords: multiculturalism, community-oriendted arts education, integrated curriculum. Huang,Haiming 黃海鳴 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 167 zh-TW
