Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 工藝設計學系碩士班 === 99 === This paper entitled “A study of Props That Remodel Our Lives” puts a twist on familiar daily used products via theatrical design techniques, thereby shaping a refreshingly new lifestyle. Users not only enjoy the practical uses of the product, but also transforms into the protagonist of unique stories through the item’s pun-like qualities, obtaining a psychological comfort through drama therapy.
This paper will first study existing theories to analyze escapist role playing and imitation behaviors, such as fan base impersonations brought about by a worship mentality, and Cosplay, it is actually a form of alternative compensation therapy triggered by a need of recognition. If we could combine this type of behavior with an item’s affordance, then we can design unique “theatrical daily products”, providing a different usage delight to our routine lives.
From a culture jamming perspective, just like everyone else, the creator faces the same industrial society values discipline and ruthless pressures of a consumption culture, and is only able to express his or her rebellion through parodies that reconstruct the symbolic meanings of ready-made consumer products.
