A well designed flicker measurement system is structured by combining photo-electric conversion, converting the luminous variation to electric signal via photocell panel, and measuring equipments. An effective flicker evaluation algorithm is used to evaluate the flicker phenomenon from the lighting sources precisely and quantitatively. The measurement system is composed by mainly three parts, optoelectronics, hardware measuring circuit and software evaluating process based on window interface mode. Typical lighting sources, such as incandescent lamps, DC-drive LED desk lamp, AC-drive LED desk lamp and AC-drive LED compact lamps, are measured as examples to verify the feasibility of the measuring system. The flicker phenomena are evaluated respectively and summarized to propose a reasonable and executable flicker regulation for lighting luminaries designs further.
