The image processing measurement system consists of a CCD camera integrated with a toolmaker microscope, a circular LED lighting device and an image processing measurement software written in C++ language (Borland C++ Builder, BCB). The tested micro end mill for the flank wear area inspection with the diameter of 0.5 mm used for milling an acrylic material was fabricated by Ghu Ting technology co., Ltd, type WFE2005. With the help of the developed image processing measurement system, the flank wear area of the tested micro end mill can be determined by comparing the flank area before machining and after machining, after doing the calibration process. The developed wear inspection of a polycrystalline diamond tool was used to inspect the tool wear after shaping the oxygen-free high conductivity copper on the meso-scale 3-axis milling machine, by comparing the tool face area before machining and after machining.
