Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 99 === ISO 7498-4 proposes the standard for network management, including configuration management, fault management, security management, account management, and performance management. This research particularly focuses on performance management. Topology setting is related to the actual environment considerations in LAN, and will affect its performance. Due to the traffic limit on network of LAN topology in the laboratory, sometimes the performance is less than ideal. The purpose of this research is to employ NS2 (Network Simulator) to simulate two types of topologies, and compare their differences. A new topology is thus modified and put into implementation in the laboratory. The Iperf / Jperf tool is executed to evaluate topology performance, and prove to provide reference for network optimization. The research results are summarized here. It is found that improved topology’s overall performances are better than star and ring topology’s. In implementation, the improved topology’s TCP and UDP throughputs are opposite to the result of simulation. It is due to the actual TCP transmission is very stable and can keep the bandwidth in itself. And the UDP transmission is limited to network bandwidth, as well as network environment and hardware characteristics.
