A RFID system consists of three parts: reader, tag and antenna. Its main function of RFID is to conduct the wireless identification and receiving work via the emission power of radio frequency waves. The reader can get the data in the tag by the active and the passive ways. Both ways are non-contact method then can avoid the wear of the card. Since the propagation of radio waves will be affected by interference, the sensing distance of the RFID system is a critical parameter. An automatic system to detect the sensing distance and to read the internal code in tag is developed in this study. Both the sensing distance and internal code will also be recorded automatically by this system. In comparison with the operating by hand, this system is an efficient way to obtain the characterized data of a RFID card. The present automatic system to obtain the sensing distance of RFID card is composed of three sub-systems : linearly moving mechanism, a control system to measure RFID sensing distance and RFID data reading and recording system. This system is related many technologies, such as Auto CAD and Soild work drawing, mechanism design, Mechatronics and pneumatic control, Delphi, MMI ware communication server and the SQL database storage. The results showed that three sub-system are combined successfully to form the automatic detecting system for obtaining the data of sensing distance and internal code of RFID card. It is noted the relevant data can be transferred between different programs and recorded into the database. Furthermore, the RFID cards can be sorted into different kinds with the data in the corresponding data files. Thus the inspection of the RFID cards can be made automatically in an efficient way.
