碩士 === 東吳大學 === 德國文化學系 === 99 === The present thesis is focused on the problem of the supernatural phenomenon in Heinrich von Kleist’s narratives in order to check his ambivalent relation to German Romanticism. The result is: Like a Romanticist, Kleist describes the supernatural phenomenon or creates the mysterious atmosphere in his narratives, but he “perspectivalizes” and “relativizes” the such phenomenon through his superb narrative techniques. Besides, the author lays the emphasis on the human psyche and gives an explanation for the supernatural phenomenon, id est: The reputed supernatural phenomenon are usually result of the subjective belief which depends on psychic factors. Therethrough, Kleist, a author in times of Romanticism, gets beyond the Romanticism.
