Description
Summary:碩士 === 國防大學政治作戰學院 === 政治研究所 === 99 === In 1991, China and Vietnam opened land territory negotiations, and in 2008, they peacefully resolved controversies over territory. In order to explore the issues behind this solution process, this research referred to historical data to understand the formation of the border between China and Vietnam, problems of border issues, and how they sought solutions. Contemporary border dispute between China and Vietnam began with the signing of the “Treaty of Tianjin”. In an auxiliary contract, China and Vietnam clearly defined the land border between the two countries, and the countries sent personnel to verify the border. However, natural factors or human issues have caused the border markers to move, and since the border belonging to the countries caused controversies, resulting in disputes over the land borders. China and Vietnam have different ideas about the land borders and which countries the villages on the border belong to. Different assertions between the two countries have resulted in the land border disputes. In 1955, the two countries engaged in land border problems, and at the time the two countries determined to suspend the dispute. In 1976, Vietnam was unified, and the second round of land territory negotiations began, and both sides held to their views, ending negotiations. The effect this time resulted in the war between China and Vietnam in 1979. In 1991, the relations between China and Vietnam normalized, and the countries opened the third border negotiation. They further signed the “People’s Republic of China and The Socialist Republic of Vietnam Land Border Treaty” in 1999, which peacefully resolved the land border disputes, and in 2008, the border was examined and a marker was erected at the border.
