Entering into the cinema is like entering another time and space, which is beneficial to our health and spirits. The moviegoers normally would first get attracted by the cast; however, the famous actors/actresses or directors would cost more, which would decrease the profitability of the firm. With the increasing popularity or accessibility of the internet nowadays, the audiences’ option is no longer limited to watching the movies in the cinema. How to wisely and effectively utilize the funds and resources has become the ultimate goal to the film producers and investors. In order for the film investors and related businesses more effectively and efficiently filming and promoting the movies, this study discusses and explores how the Hollywood movies has gained their popularity in the past 20 years and also analyzed objectively the related economic factors and its environment. The film industry in the United States is the key indicator for the film industries around the world. Thus, once you get to know how the firm industry works in Hollywood, you will also have a good insight and understanding of the entire film industry. The study also discovers that the action film has the highest percentage of movie production amongst the Hollywood films, followed by comedy, drama, and animation. The audiences in Taiwan are also familiar with these types of movies. On an average, the highest sales of the box office usually fall in the 52nd week, around the New Year Holidays. The lowest sales typically occur toward the end of the summer break in mid-September. On the other hand, after analyzing the economic data, the results demonstrate that the stock market, consumer confidence index, and interest rate would have an impact on the box office sales.
