In order to accomplish our goal, we combined a sphygmomanometer and a photoplethysmograph module to design a non-invasive blood pressure module which can estimate the continuous blood pressure. First, the Oscillometric Method was used to obtain the diastolic pressure and the systolic pressure of a person. The two parameters are further applied to calibration of the voltage-to-pressure ratio in a photoplethysmograph, which establishes the physiological parameter specific to each person. Second, not only to calculate the SPO2, our pulse oximeter can also measure the value of the continuous blood pressure and the heart rate in a non-invasive way. The pulse oximeter can display real-time results and store the information into a computer, allowing diagnostic reference for doctors. To verify the performance, numerous patients are tested. According to the results of the experiment, the procedure presented in this thesis for estimation of continuous blood pressure was able to effectively achieve the required functions.
