Volunteer’s Leisure Activity and Job Involvement in Kaohsiung City
Abstract
The purposes of this study were to understand the relationship between elementary school volunteer’s leisure activity and job involvement in Kaohsiung City. The study was conducted through the questionnaire-survey method. With simple probability sampling, 500 copies of questionnaire were distributed face-to-face, and 466 valid ones were collected. The data was analyzed through descriptive analysis, independent T-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation by using the SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results are as follows: (1) Volunteers’ participation of leisure activity was significantly affected by their age, educational level, average household income, and average number of days of leave; (2) Respondents differed on job involvement on age, marital status, and average service days; (3) Elementary school volunteers’ leisure participation significantly correlated to job involvement. It is hoped that the results of study can be used as baselines not only by public sectors to draw up related social welfare policy, but also by elementary schools to encourage people to actively serve as school volunteers.
