More information would be transferred via Internet. However, the information sent on network may be captured with some illegal trick by the evil hacker or malicious user. Thus, how to keep the transferred information secure becomes an important issue. Data hiding technology is to solve information security and brings up a solution for the above problem. In 2010, Lee et al. proposed a reversible data hiding based on prediction of difference expansion. Their scheme gives a good PSNR and capacity, but some flaws still exist. For example, the starting point is fixed, and secret message is embedded continuously, which cannot use authentication mechanism. For improving these, the paper proposes a reversible data hiding based on random prediction of difference expansion. The paper combines the schemes of Lee et al. and Ni, who proposed a reversible data hiding based on histogram. The paper improves Lee et al.’ flaws and promotes their capacity.
