Description
Summary:碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 休閒健康管理研究所 === 99 === Division of medical specialization in the modern healthcare system became sophisticated, to which people appeared to be incapable in dealing with health problems in an appropriate manner for people who gained inadequate health literacy. As a result, people may behave in a wrong way while seeking for a quality life. This is especially true for asthmas patients because of some misunderstanding toward this particular chronic disease. This research attempted to detect how the levels of health literacy relate with and impact on the knowledge levels on asthmas and the levels of self-conscious for asthmas patients. 306 asthmas samples were taken from outpatient departments of five major hospitals in the eastern part of Taiwan. Instruments adopted to detect the psychological property of these major variables were Taiwan Health Literacy Scale for Adults, Self-conscious scale, and MARS to measure the levels of health literacy, self-consciousness, and health knowledge on asthmas. Statistical analyses used in this research included descriptive, factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and regression. The test results indicated that the levels of health literacy, asthma knowledge, and self-consciousness differed in terms of some demographic factors; the levels of health knowledge differed in terms of the levels of health literacy. This research concluded that the levels of health literacy had significant impacts on the asthmas knowledge. This research thus suggested the public health professionals should pay more attention on how to educate or deliver proper health information to the public to promote the levels of health literacy of the public and the asthmas patients, and to foster better understanding and knowledge levels on the asthmas disease. Consequently, good levels of asthmas knowledge will bring good levels of healthy behavior in preventing asthmas for the public or quality life for the asthmas patients.
