Currently, people are applying solar as a critical aspect for the source replacement. In the solar cell industry, the manufacturing system can be defined as a hybrid flow shop (HFS) type due to its characteristics. The planner should consider the constraints of HFS and the uniqueness of the solar cell industry, such as lot splitting, machine availability, sequence-independent setup times, and sequence-dependent setup times. To solve the problem of manufacturer environmental characteristic, we developed a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) to minimize the makespan of HFS scheduling model for the solar cell industry. The order optimal plans are achieved by the HFS model for the planner’s reference which includes the job sequence, the method of lot splitting, and the number of machines involved in the model. The sensitivity analysis is provided to valid the proposed model. According to the experiment results, the lot splitting significantly reduces the makespan and increases efficiency. Furthermore, choosing to use lot splitting more through this model can enable the machines to be flexible for dispatching thereby obtaining better results of the production schedule. In addition, the research also considers the industry case as an example to prove the feasibility of the HFS model. Wang, Li-Chih 王立志 2011 學位論文 ; thesis 55 zh-TW
