This research collected, classified, and analyzed all patents about the lifting devices for toilets. A design direction was found from patent analysis. A four-bar kinematic chain satisfying the design conditions was obtained from mechanism synthesis. CAD software was used to construct computer model and to verify interference conditions. CAE software was employed to analyze stress distribution in different operation positions to ensure sufficient strength of the lifting device.
