Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 社會科教育學系碩士班 === 99 === The purpose of this research is to design local historical curriculum for higher grades in Sijhih. The content of this curriculum focuses on Jhongjheng old street in Sijhih, and this school-based self-made teaching materials is built on the reference documents and the result from field work. The objects of the study are 31 sixth-graders in an elementary school in Sijhih. With the self-made teaching materials, the researcher designed different teaching methods such as computer-using, team work, dramas, interaction games, on-the-spot investigation, book-making, disquisition and so on. To attain to the aim of this research, the researcher made an qualitative data analysis on teaching records, reflection journals, students’ worksheets and interview records. Furthermore, in order to estimate changes of students in local historical area, the researcher compared the pretest with the post test for students, analyzed the questionnaires for parents and students and made in-depth interviews with students. The conclusions of this research are as follows. 1. Self-made local historical teaching materials are helpful to popularize local culture education: According to this research, students learn less from textbooks. If we can integrate local resources and develop school-based local historical teaching materials, that will be good to popularize local culture education. 2. Local historical teaching interests students: Local historical curriculum connects with students’ lives and experience. With various teaching methods, students become active and have more interest in learning knowledge about their hometown. 3. Local historical teaching efficiently enhances students’ historical ability: Based on the questionnaires and the comparison between the pretest and the post test, we found local historical teaching efficiently enhances students’ historical ability. 4. Local historical teaching cultivate students’ affection for their hometown: By learning through the introduction to local history and experience acquiring activities, students actively care for and cherish their hometown.
