Description
Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 音樂學系教學碩士學位班 === 99 === In the beginning of the 20th century, after the Impression era of Claude Debussy (1862-1918), France boldly led the world of music to modernization. Important composers of the period included Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), Eric Satie (1866-1925), among others. The Les Six continued the spirit of innovation, originating the brief and fresh style of Neo-classicism from out of the mysterious and dreamy Impression style. Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) was the member of the Les Six. He kept composing new music that made the audience feel an approachable nature, naïve and undramatic. He contributed much to the French art songs and was one of France’s most excellent art song composers since Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). The “Banalités ” song collection set was one of Poulenc’s most famous compositions. The lyrics were written with selections referencing the Alcools of Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918), a French Poet. There were no particular correlations among the five songs. The first song, Chanson d’Orkenise, eliciting nature and the legendary folk song style. The second song, Hôtel, it illustrated how a poet lazily painted with music. The third song, Fagnes de Wallonie, described feelings with scenery. It illustrated the rustle, desolate and deserted highland appearing much like the anxiousness and sadness in his heart. The fourth song, Voyage à Paris, was praising the city of love, Paris, with his song. The fifth song, Sanglots, the entire piece seems to be telling a surreal story that was profound and hard to understand; complicated and confusing; but rhymed with a sense of delicacy and elegance. It is a very special song. Under Poulenc’s careful compositions, this song collection set holistically combined meaning from poetry, as the tone and rhyme of the music matched each other just perfectly so the poetry and music synergistically combined together closely. The author of this paper hopes to lead the reader into realizing the value and characteristics of Poulenc’s art songs through studying this rather extraordinary “Banalités ” song collection set.
