In Taiwan, art therapy is mostly affiliated to counseling clinic and medical clinic, and none of these are exclusive art therapy studios, but borrowed. Therefore, this thesis is to study the art therapy studios which formally locate within hospitals in Taiwan. The interior design of art therapy studio which functions as fine art studio is what this thesis focuses on. This study starts its foundation frame through looking into related publications, and then goes to current situation investigation of the art therapy studios in hospitals and interviews with art therapists regarding their needs about the use of space. As a result of the mentioned, unveiled are the current features and problems of art therapy studio space design in Taiwan. The discovered are as the followings: (1) The majority of the clients are developmental delayed children. (2) There is no space and facility for creative works of special materials. (3) Art therapy studios belong to the hospitals, thus the art therapists have few rights to interfere. (4) Because it has not yet concluded through laws and regulations regarding art therapy, the art therapy studios expand with limits. Finally, the suggestions about space installation are put together, and concluded with a concept for future space design of art therapy studio for developmental delayed children who suffered from Autistic Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. What is expected is that this study can be a reference for relevant people when it comes to designing the space of art therapy studios in the future.
