Description
Summary:碩士 === 德明財經科技大學 === 服務業經營管理研究所 === 99 === Recently, the government considers that the insufficient competitiveness of the banking sector in Taiwan relevant to the overbanking phenomenon and the excessive competition in the banking market in Taiwan. Thus, it's anticipated that the financial institutions could consolidate through the policy. The purpose of the paper is to confer the effect of the merger and acquisition of the banking on the efficiency of the management of banking based on the banking in Taiwan through 1996 to 2009 as the main research object. We first compare three years’pre-merger and post-merger efficiency between banks; empirical results show that mergers and acquisitions in the 13 events, nine of the merging bank's technical efficiency enhance, eight of their cost efficiency decline, and 10 of their allocation efficiency recess. Then we use Tobit regression analysis to deliberate how the bank M&A influences the operating efficiency. Empirical results show that technical.efficiency and cost efficiency did not significantly decline after M&A, while allocation efficiency declines obviously after M&A.
