In order to provide people with better healthcare services, the Taipei City Government aimed to increase services for chronic diseases in regions that generally contain general hospitals with services for acute diseases. Therefore, in Guandu Community, a hospital for chronic diseases was built. When people have been migrating to Guandu and residents of Bali and Tamsui district of New Taipei City seek cross-regional healthcare services in Guandu Community, it is worth examining whether the supplies of healthcare resources meet people’s demands. Objectives: This purpose of this study was to understand the healthcare demand of people in Guandu and adjacent communities. Methods: (1) Statistical analysis were conducted using data collected through the questionnaire titled “The Evaluation of the Healthcare Demand in Guandu Community, Beitou District”, in addition to data obtained on my own. The study sample contained 1,073 individuals. (2)The study conducted interview with managers of hospital and clinic, and the opinion leader of community to understand their thoughts in the future development of healthcare services in Guandu community. Results: (1) The study results showed that people in Guandu and adjacent communities thought that outpatient services, healthcare resources of inpatient beds, and emergency services are the top three services that need to be increased. However, 30.3% of the study participants thought there was no need to increase these healthcare services. People suggest a demand for increasing outpatient departments, and pediatric and surgical emergency services should also be increased.(2) Age, monthly household income, residence, healthy behavior (smoking habit), the satisfaction with available healthcare resources in terms of outpatient services, inpatient beds and emergency services are factors influencing the opinions of respondents toward the demand for increasing healthcare services in Guandu Community.(3)Education level, monthly household income, healthy behavior (smoking habit), the satisfaction with available healthcare resources in terms of inpatient beds and emergency services are the factors that influence the opinions of respondents who had sought doctors in Guandu Community in the past year toward the demand for increasing healthcare services. Conclusions: Compared with people who have a monthly household income under NTD 20,000, who are smokers, and who are satisfied with the available emergency care services and inpatient beds; those whose monthly household income is NTD50,001 to 100,000, are nonsmokers, and are unsatisfied with the emergency care services and inpatient beds comprised the primary population that suggest an increase in Guandu Community healthcare services.
