The design provisions for beam-column joints came from available beam-column joints specimens made of normal-strength concrete and reinforcement. It may not be suitable for high-strength concrete and reinforcement. Design guidelines are provided in the AIJ and Japan, but there are not too many data available and most of them are reduced-scale specimens. This project included experiments and parameter investigation. The experiments aim to evaluate the seismic performance of beam-column joints constructed with 70-100 MPa concrete and SD 490-685 MPa reinforcement, respectively. Two cruciform and two T-shape beam-column joint specimens are tested. Primary testing parameters are the material properties. The test results show that the tested beam-column joints, made of SD 685 reinforcement and 100 MPa concrete with code-compliant detailing, performed quite well with respect to the acceptance criteria of ACI 374.1. It should be noted that the development length for the beam bars passing through the joint seems have to be increased for SD 685 reinforcement.
