English teachers are students’ models of learning to read, therefore, how they teach reading needs further investigation. The purpose of this study is to explore junior high school English teachers’ reading awareness and the way they guide students to read. The participants were forty-five junior high school English teachers in Yunlin County. The data were collected from the questionnaire, classroom observation and semi-structured interview. The findings were that higher reading awareness English teachers were well aware of students’ reading difficulties and demonstrated more strategies to guide students to learn to read.
