The TFT-LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) is one of which strongly supported by the government for the past decade. Several large-scale banks syndicated loan which enable the panel makers in Taiwan makers to actively plan ahead and spearheaded the leading position in the global market place. Not only they make use of mergers, acquisitions and create strategic alliances by horizontal integration to expand the production capacity and market share, in the upstream and downstream supply chain, they also vertically integrate the key components which expand the size of the various group companies to much larger scale. The strategy of the TFT-LCD Group''s vertical integration is one of the hot topics among the advanced researches in recent years. However, majority of them come from the stand point of the core company within the group which takes the “Cost ” as the most important factors of the decision making process during the vertical integration transaction. This research takes the subsidiary of the Group during vertical integration as a case study. It uses qualitative research approach by conducting interviews with relevant personnel. The analysis of the research result shows that there are other important elements contribute to the Group enterprise’s vertical integration transactions besides “Cost”, the elements comprise of mastering the key components, the stability of orders and supply, personal KPI and other decision-making factors. Finally, it deduced the disadvantages generated by the Group trading companies to the molecular enterprises during the vertical integration and provides advices.
