Computer operations have replaced the manual work gradually. However, types of current Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems are in various ways. Large and complex functions of CAD system may not be able to meet the needs of the customer and the designer. While product design should be customized to meet the user expectations, CAD systems should also be customized to meet the designer needs. The current product design trend is toward rapid design and high-mix-low-volume design due to the rapidly change on the market and various needs of customers. The CAD systems with both automation and customization of product design can save the product design time and meet customer needs. Therefore, in order to meet the demand of the designers and avoid over-development of the CAD systems, this study presents a three-dimensional morphology of systems engineering based on Hall’s three-dimensional morphology of systems engineering. It takes the life cycle of customized systems as time dimension and object-oriented systems engineering method as logic dimension. The three-dimensional morphology of systems engineering is used to analyze customized systems and to describe requirements, functionality, and system architecture to construct a customized CAD system. The turbine engine is set as the hardware case study in this study. Preliminary design of high and low pressure shafts is completed by getting important parameters through analysis process. Blueprint checking system is set as the software case study and verified by blueprints of turbine engine. This platform framework can construct customized CAD systems not only save the product development time, but also develop more diverse creative products from existing products to meet customer demand.
