The correlation of resilience in caregivers whose child with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

碩士 === 中國醫藥大學 === 護理學系碩士班 === 100 === The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation among caregivers’ stress, family functioning, social support and resilience. This study adopted a cross-sectional correlated design. Study subjects was the family whose child has cancer recruited from the inpatient or outpatient department of China Medical University Hospital between September 2010 to February 2012. Thirty-two caregivers administered the structure questionnaire included demographic characterizations of the children with cancer and their families, family stress questionnaire, The Family Functioning Scale, social support questionnaire and the Resilience Scale. The SPSS statistical software was used for statistical analysis, using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression analysis, and p-value of statistical significance was setting at 0.05. Results showed that significant positive correlation was identified between family functioning, social support and resilience; family functioning and caregivers’ stress have a significant negative correlation. The caregivers’ stress, family functioning, and social support were predictors of resilience, explaining 11% of variance in resilience for caregivers’ resilience. According to the results of the study, we hope the health care team can contribute to obtaining and using internal and external resources in practice, to enhance family functioning and alleviate the pressure of the caregivers, in response to the treatment of children with cancer, which further enhances its ability to recover, prompting toward positive adaptation, and thus to maintain the integrity of the family.
