The nursing staffs were recruited from two Medical Center Hospitals in the Middle and Northern Taiwan. The structured questionnaire was used. There are 170 copies of questionnaires were sent out, 138 copies are retrieved, and 113 copies are valid. The retrieved ratio is 81.88 %. The software SPSS for Window 12.0 was used to analyze the collected data. The results in this study is shown for the following issues:1.There are significant difference between age, nursing work period of service, operating room work period of service, over-time hours in a week and nursing ladder system and job characteristics.2.There are significant difference between age, marriage, nursing work period of service, education and the achievement motivations.3.There are significant difference between age, marriage, nursing work period of service, operating room work period of service, fixed branch and job satisfaction.4. There are partially significant correlations in job characteristics, achievement motivations and job satisfaction for nursing staffs in the operating room.5.The valid forecasting variables for achievement motivations are respectively the work integrity, work importance, work autonomy, and work feedback. The valid forecasting variables for job satisfaction are respectively the skill variance, work integrity, work importance, work autonomy, and work feedback. The suggestions in the study are divided three aspects, the administration, the nursing education and the nurses themselves.
